Artists Spotlight: Allegro Dance Company
Allegro Dance Company based in Wheeling, WV comprised of young men and women from the tri-state area will be tour once again this summer. Allegro was formed in 1994 by Director Anna Pishner Harsh out of love and inspiration of being an Italian-American. Allegro
educates, entertains and enriches audiences about the Italian culture. By fusing traditional Italian dance with other dance styles, Allegro provides a unique & contemporary look inside Italy’s past and present. They have toured throughout the US and Italy at festivals, concerts, universities, public schools, parades and
cultural celebrations. Allegro provides an explosive and entertaining showcase of dance that leaves the audience energized. Allegro’s 2012 tour of All roads lead to Rome opens with a powerful piece that takes the audience back in time to the Roman Empire showcasing power, beauty and strength. The audience will get a chance to witness a live fountain dance called Three Coins in a Fountain, a modern dance was inspired by several fountains in Rome including the Trevi Fountain. Harsh states, “If you haven’t seen Allegro Dance Company yet, you are in for a surprise. The dancers are energetic and extremely talented. This show is packed with a variety of dance styles that will leave you dancing in the streets.”
